Body Detox with Juice Fast
Most people have heard about detoxification of the body with the help of juice fast but it is very important to know as much as possible about this detox procedure as this method is not meant for everybody. As can be guessed from the name a juice fast is a type of detox diet in which only raw and fresh juice of fruits and vegetables along with water are consumed during the procedure and nothing else.
Juice fast detox procedure is never to be followed without consulting a physician as this is an extreme form of detoxification method and can be very harmful for many people. Juice fast is an absolute no-no for pregnant women as well as for children. People who have diabetes or are suffering from anemia, malnutrition, addictions, liver or kidney diseases, impaired immune functions, eating disorders, low blood pressure, cancer, nutritional deficiency, epilepsy or are underweight are strictly to avoid juice fast detox procedure. People taking prescription medications should consult a health professional skilled in detoxification before trying a juice fast, and should never discontinue or reduce their medications on their own.

A longer fast is preferable to a short one. However, for a beginner, a juice fast should generally lasts for two to five days. When you get used to a five-day juice fast, you can attempt to stretch yourself further to 1 week, 2, 3 or 4 weeks. pangs. The longer you are on a juice fast, the more uninterrupted time your body could have to deeply detoxify, cleanse and heal.
Fruits and vegetables should be juiced freshly and if that is not possible you should get the juice from health stores rather than from the market. Sip between 6 to 8 glasses of 8 ounces of juice is recommended per day during the fast. Typical fruits and vegetables used include apple, cranberry, carrot, celery, cabbage, kale, pineapple, beet, spinach, and greens. Use only raw organic produce and drink the juice when freshly made to avoid deterioration of nutrients and enzymes. Citrus fruits such as grapefruits and pomegranates are to be avoided as they are aggresive unless ok'ed by your healthcare practitioner. Lots of water is to be taken along with the juices during this time. Drink 6 glasses of room temperature or warm filtered water daily in addition to the juice.
Break the fast gradually. Take several days to introduce solid food into your diet. Raw food is best. Eat it slowly and chew well.
Common temporary side effects of a juice fast include bad breath, increased body odor, headaches, tiredness, hypoglycemia, fainting, dizziness, constipation, acne, , and bad breath. Other more serious effects include low blood pressure, vomiting, diarrhea and heart arrhytmias. If these side effects oocur and persists, discontinue the fast and consult a health professional immediately. You may experience pains and aches at the beginning or at the end of your fast because your body is detoxing itself, so just sit back and wait it out.
At the end of your fast, many illnesses can be reversed and good health can be restored. You'll also feel rejuvenated and lose some weight.
